Curatorial Overview
Every Day in New Taipei Is Full of Flavor and Energy
Everyday life is the most direct way to get to know a city. From the food and flavors of market stalls and children running and playing in the park, to daily walks, exercise, and moments spent with family, the true character of a city lies in everyone’s daily life. Starting from three of the purest experiences — eating, moving, and playing — the fifth-floor exhibition invites you to experience New Taipei’s rich and diverse ways of life, while also looking back at the stories of the city’s industries.
New Taipei is home to more than 18,000 factories, spanning metals, machinery, plastics, food, and electronics. Over the years, the city has developed deep manufacturing expertise and local memories. In the 1950s and 1960s, Sanchong was an important hub of Taiwan’s record manufacturing industry. At its peak, more than 40 record factories were based there. Record after record was produced and released from Sanchong, collected and listened to by countless families, leaving behind precious memories in sound.
This time, records are not just collected — they return to everyday life. The exhibition has partnered with See You Coffee, founded at the Wugu Public Market in New Taipei, to create a limited-time café where coffee, design, and people’s everyday lives come together. Starting with a cup of coffee and a touch of design ingenuity, experience the many faces of New Taipei in daily life.
