The “Circle” of New Taipei: Shaped by its topography, New Taipei traces a distinctive ring-shaped outline.

This “circle” is more than a geographical feature—it links rivers, mountains and sea, everyday life, culture, industry, and urban governance, forming an interconnected urban network.

We imagine New Taipei’s “circle” as a flexible, stretchable rubber band. It can stretch, gather, and link things together, just as the city keeps forging connections across different relationships and creating new possibilities.

The word “band” itself carries multiple meanings: a musical group, a strip, a circular form, a frequency band — and also a group or an alliance.

Built around the core ideas of “Circle, Bond, Gathering, Diversity, and Rhythm,” the exhibition turns “Band” into a curatorial language for understanding the city, exploring the relationships between people, everyday life, and the city from different angles.

“Band,” therefore, is more than a word in the exhibition’s title. It is an urban symbol that ties together New Taipei’s landscapes, ways of life, and cultures, opening up more diverse ways of imagining New Taipei.

Composing the Future Together: Composing together symbolizes that a city is not shaped by any single force, but by different communities, generations, industries, and cultures collaborating and making their voices heard together, joining hands to move toward a future city that is resilient, inclusive, and globally minded.
