Prelude to Resonance

Key visual for Prelude to Resonance

Curatorial Overview

New Taipei City: a new community of more than 4 million people, voices calling out and answering one another, continually creating aspirations, action, and resonance.

This city is never a finished work but always a work in progress — through “renewal,” it demonstrates the resilience of its infrastructure and systems; through “co-creation,” it brings together the collective wisdom of civic participation.

New Taipei City is home to more than 4 million people, with a scale and complexity comparable to that of a small country. People from across Taiwan and around the world come together here, where diverse cultures, lifestyles, and values intersect, shaping New Taipei’s most distinctive character—a city that welcomes the greatest number of people and embraces the widest range of ways of life.

Take a closer look at New Taipei, and you will see that this city has never been a finished work—it is forever a work in progress.

Through ongoing “renewal”—upgrading infrastructure and improving systems—New Taipei demonstrates resilience and innovation, turning every citizen’s ideas and vision into energy for the city’s growth. Through “co-creation”—public-private collaboration and citizen participation—every step of the city’s evolution draws on collective wisdom. New Taipei’s diversity is not just a backdrop; it is the force that drives the city forward.

Only a city that embraces many voices, ways of life, and cultural imaginations can become a true city of the future. New Taipei’s resonance lies in embracing different voices and accents from every corner, building shared views and consensus by listening to one another.

This interactive art installation therefore turns the urban changes citizens feel most strongly into five themes — Regenerate, Reconnect, Reintegrate, Renovate, and Reimagine — inviting citizens to leave their own mark among municipal achievements made possible by many different voices, opinions, and perspectives, and to exchange ideas with one another, creating a new resonance together.
