Curatorial Overview

Following the City’s Journey: Discovering New Taipei’s Sound Memories

The first floor serves as the overall introduction and guide to the exhibition. Starting from the main visual, layers of expanding lines and rings symbolize a city that is interconnected and continually moving forward. Extending from this visual, the Vinyl Record Tunnel turns New Taipei’s development into a series of record covers, presenting how the city has changed across housing, social care, police, firefighting and healthcare, transportation, education, arts and culture, sports, tourism, industry, and sustainable governance.

After passing through the two main exhibition areas, “Prelude to Resonance” and “New Taipei City Journal: Writing Everyday Life Together,” visitors explore the four themes of Security, Livability, Well-being, and Prosperity. Through videos, data, and other perspectives, they can see how the city responds to the needs of different places, communities, and generations.

As the city’s development gradually unfolds through the words and images on the walls, our attention returns to every person who lives here. New Taipei’s story is not only found in major construction projects and statistics, but also in the streets we pass every day, familiar scenes of daily life, and the connections between people and the city. From the course of the city’s development to the moments of each person’s life, these seemingly ordinary experiences add up to write the story of New Taipei.
